Bomb The Bass - Beat Dis (Extended Dis) (UK 12'') (1987)

"Beat Dis" is a 1988 track by British act Bomb the Bass, a studio production formed by producer Tim Simenon, from the act's album Into the Dragon. It, like other hits of the era such as "Pump Up the Volume" by MARRS and "Theme from S'Express" by S'Express, largely consisted of samples. The single was very successful in the United Kingdom, peaking at number two on the UK Singles Chart. It reached #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart for one week and was Bomb the Bass' only chart hit in the U.S. The record sleeve features a smiley lifted from Watchmen. This usage was the origin of the use of the smiley as a symbol for acid house.
