Phyllis Nelson (October 3, 1950 - January 12, 1998)[1] was an American singer, most famous for her UK chart-topping recording, "Move Closer". Her son is the R&B singer and record producer, Marc Nelson. Nelson died in January 1998 from breast cancer in Los Angeles, California, where she had been living. She was 47 years old. In 1985 Nelson released her second studio album "I Like You" the title track was released as a single and peaked at #1 on the US Hot Dance/Club Play Chart. "I Like You" also reached the #29 in the French dance charts. In the UK the single peaked at #81.
